S-user ID — What is it? Who has it? Why do you need it? We get questions like these a lot so we figured we’d put some information together to answer all your S-user ID questions.
What is S-user ID?
S-user, or SAP-user, is a unique identifier than allows you to login to your SAP products, submit support tickets, download software, configure connections, and more. Your S-User ID contains the letter ‘S’ followed by a string of numbers (e.g. S0011068648).
You may come across the term ‘Super administrator’ and wonder how that differs from S-user. The super administrator within the SAP product your company is using (e.g. SAP Analytics Cloud) encompasses all administrative duties and has the highest level of authorization. The Super administrator is usually the person in your organization who originally purchased the SAP product.
How are S-user IDs assigned?
For new customers, the individual who purchased the SAP product will receive a welcome email containing their S-user ID. In this case, SAP assigns the first S-user ID.
The Super administrator can assign S-user IDs to various people in their organization, such as managers, who may need admin-level status. Everyone else in the company who uses the product doesn’t necessarily need to have S-user IDs, they can simply login using their work email address once the Super administrator or S-user grants them access.
Please note, SAP cannot assign additional S-user IDs on your company’s behalf.
What should you do if you don’t receive your S-user ID?
If you purchased the product and do not receive your welcome email, check your junk folder. If you still did not receive the email, contact SAP Support.
If you did not purchase the product, but someone in your organization did, contact the Super-administrator within your organization. If you do not know who the Super administrator is, log into https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/importantcontacts to see the Super-Administrators in your organization.
How do I manage S-user IDs for my company?
S-users can assign and manage S-user IDs and authorizations for their organization. Once you have your S-user ID, use this list to see all your administrators. S-users can request a new S-user ID by clicking on the ‘Request User’ button and filling in the required fields.
